Supported Living Partnerships

"He wanted his own place, but I worried about his safety and felt overprotective. Supported Living Partnerships has been an excellent program and I would recommend it." --- Parent speaking of her son's experience with Supported Living Partnerships

The first initiative of Community Involvement Programs was the Apartment Training Program which provided a setting for adults with intellectual disabilities to experience living in an apartment. Today, the Supported Living Partnerships program provides a range of supports to adults with disabilities who live in their own apartments and homes in Hennepin County.

Program staff meet regularly with people to help with shopping, paying bills, budgeting, and accessing community resources. Another important way we support people is by helping to develop and maintain relationships with friends and neighbors. Several small self-advocacy and interest groups receive ongoing support from staff as part of the services that we provide.

Supported Living Partnerships offers a limited number of short-term housing subsidies to assist adults in transition from living at home to an independent arrangement. The program is funded by SILS (Semi-independent Living Services) and the Medicaid waiver.
