Home Health Services

Treatment options for individuals living with mental illness include the use of medications to help manage symptoms. New medications are being made available on a regular basis, and ongoing research continues to offer promise and hope for more alternatives. Medications won’t “cure” mental illness—but the right medication taken as prescribed can make an important difference in the day-to-day life experiences of people living with mental illness.

Community Involvement Programs offers psychiatric skilled nursing through our Medicare Certified Home Health Agency. Experienced nurses provide individual support to people with serious mental illness living in the community, as well as people who reside in our Shared Housing and Adult Foster Care Homes. Nurses will assist people with medication management, chronic medical issues, crisis intervention and obtaining community resources. The nurse completes a mental health assessment with each visit and will communicate with the participant’s psychiatrists and other providers as needed. Community Involvement Programs contracts with a local pharmacy and has a full time pharmacy technician on site. Nurses are able to order, obtain and deliver medications to participants. Nurses may also set up a one week only supply of medications and keep the remainder of a person’s medications, should the person exhibit suicidal thoughts.
